The woman in the picture is Dr Christina Miller, one of the first women to be elected to the Royal Society of Edinburgh.'A Chemical Imbalance' is a short documentary film and book that ask why Edinburgh has such a long history of successful female chemists, and why women are still under-represented in all science fields.
The project was funded by the award of a Rosalind Franklin prize from the Royal Society to Professor Polly Arnold.

The film was directed by Siri Rodnes and Marie Liden; the book was written by Cameron Conant.
